GENERAL TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PATIENTS WITH OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA:
1) Do not drive until excessive daytime sleepiness has been relieved.
2) Hazardous machines, occupations or activities should be avoided until sleepiness has been adequately treated.
3) Weight loss may improve obstructive sleep apnea.
4) Alcohol and sedatives may worsen obstructive sleep apnea and should be avoided.
5) Sleeping on your side may result in fewer apneas than lying on your back while asleep.
