Gomez have always been my absolute no1 hated band of that era, theres nothing that makes me cringe quite like that Whippin Picadilly song.

TCTC broke up about 4 years ago. I stand by their first album, they were unapologetically suburban and had a nice line in album art. Plus they were always good when i saw them live.
