Exactly, there is just no reason to invest emotionally or intellectually in a piece of music anymore, since the mood or style is so readily available at Hot Topic or Pitchfork. It just doesn't pay for them to put so much into something when they can buy the superficial and shallow feeling of it, which is what most people were looking for in the first place...
