Posted this at Skully's site and thought I might as well post it here as well since SY fans and Melvins fans tend to overlap and I've never contributed anything here. Kind of a shady contribution to begin with since I used other folks' bootlegs to build this rather than my own recordings. Not sure of the sources at this point so apologies for the lack of credit due to the original tapers.
Melvins Slow Jams Volume 2: March of the Charmicarmicat
Being a huge Melvins fan, I've probably seen them play live nearly as many times as I've ever masturbated (i.e almost as many times as I've seen Sonic Youth). And every time I hope to hear them play the 12+ minutes of Glory that is "Charmicarmicat" from Eggnog, the first Melvins tape to come into my life. Maybe seen it happen 2 or 3 times in person, which could have only been improved on if they played that song for the entire set (asked Buzz about this and his response was "no, we do have some other songs we know how to play, you should check them out"). Since that won't be happening, I've spliced together about 5 or so different live versions of Charmicarimcat to create one hour long verson. There is some fucking about with the source material (e.g. feedback samples and bass adjustments used in an half-assed attempt to improve continuity, crowd noise removal, etc). Not a polished slab by any means, although it makes for decent zoned out night driving music, esepcially on the way towards Joshua Tree or Vegas. There is a volume 1 of a slightly different nature.
