Snagged this from dime, and thought I'd pass it along.

JULIA KENT

Ambient Festival
St. Aposteln, Koeln, Germany
January - 23 - 2014

---
from DIMENEW collection # 188
---

Rec. Info:
DPA 4061 -> Roland D-26 (at WAV 16/44) -> SD -> HD -> WeTransfer -> my HD -> Audacity (volume boost) -> WAV 16/44 -> TLH8 -> FLAC -> DIME -> YOUR EARS AND MIND...
Excellent recording, nothing to complain. These mics are the just exactly right choice for music like this. My personal desire for them grows with every of DIMENEW's fantastic
recordings. All thanks straight to him, the master taper!

Here's the first of three concerts from the Ambient Festival at Sankt Aposteln, a medivian style roman catholic church at the Neumarkt in Koeln. A gorgeous setting for music like this!
Or just to say...the ancient history meets the ambient now. If you visit their website you can read a lot of very interesting information about this church, first mentioned in "reports"
as way back as the year 1021...So in about just seven years from now, they are celebrating the 1000 year of its existance. Well, unfortunately it doesn't look like that anymore, as wars
and especially the devasting bombing of Koeln in 1944/45 almost destroyed it completely. The damaged was so big, that it took from 1949 until 1975 to complete the reconstruction.
But if you watch some pics, you know you're in a very spiritual setting.
Julia Kent is a canadian born cello player (now residing in NYC), who besides being a ground member of well acclaimed cellogrounp RASPUTINA, has - besides her own work - added a lot of
her instrument abilities to more contemporary artists spanning from Norah Jones over Rufus Wainwright up to some weirder acts like Current 93...
But this is her, playing to a "packed crowd" (ups, thanks to the audience, very concentrated and "in-for-the-music"). Guess you like it. SB.
