I've had the exact opposite happen to me. A good friend who really enjoys music never could really get into SY back in the day (early to mid 90's). We've all heard it in some form or fashion: "too noisy." I made him a SY mixtape with less noisy tracks and my friend really dug it.

I would say this is especially true for "proper" SY releases after 2000. With these releases when making a SY mix, I usually just include tracks from a three consecutive SY albums.
