I was there. I think the sound system at Glasslands is really getting better. Right now I would say this is the best venue in NYC, or at least one of my favorites.

Thurston and Carlo Giffoni went on around twelve and played for about half hour, and with the low lights, projection on the screen (fish, random patterns, etc) plus the cameramen shooting off their flashes it was a pretty dramatic scene. Carlos destroyed in all wavelengts and frequencies, from massive low throbbing bass lines to fast high pitched drones, while Thurston at one point worked his guitar with what looked like a chisel or a giant aluminum nail or something (a tent stake?) I dont know what it was but at one point he was just stabbing the guitar with it and bent this piece of metal in half.

It was fucking massive night (I only missed Sam Goldberg, but everybody else delivered great sets, although Emeralds had a tough act to follow as they went on last and their thing was pretty mellow, maybe they should have switched places with Carlos and Thurston.), Anyway, place was packed, you should have been there. Really got everybody psyched for No Fun Fest, that's for sure.
