I think one of the large disparities between Europe (or my part of it anyway) is that Europe produces an awful lot of dance music, whereas, save for Detroit house, there's a lot less of a culture of dance music in America. I don't mean hip-hop, which is a dance music of sorts, but it's also has a lot more of a message rather than being purely about 'the dancing'. British people (such is my experience) are often found raving it up one night and seeing rock stuff the next, or even both in one evening.

Is this contentious? Someone American tell me I'm wrong.
