Can I make a tiny point? Much of the McCOy era was lacking, but I think he was a decent Doctor - the lack of effort from the BBC was obvious in production and the appointment of Bonnie Langford was, um, well, you know.
But if you revisit his last season (26, the last season proper until Ecclestone) then you may find that it is of very high quality - every story (
Battlefield, Ghost Light, The Curse of Fenric, Survival). On the other hand you may disagree, but I think it's an opinion worth stating.
