I swear I love the promotional pre-dgc beck recording...it's genuinely hilarious & musical & shows a great degree of promise of blossoming talent, but to always fall back on the humor thing is a pitfall. Frank Zappa was a great composer, but for lack of better lyrics, he is another victim of the same sort of predispostion.

Many, many artists try to be funny & yet also sublime at the same time ala the rare acheivement of greats like John Lennon & Bob Dylan, & in the end, fail miserably.
