This thread is totally dedicated to Sonic Youth's influences, whether it be music, art, books, movies, etc.

Take a look at this thread from a Mars Volta forum (http://www.thecomatorium.com/board/i...howtopic=20371), it's a really, good acurate list of The Mars Volta's influences which we should try to compile like. Try to quote from magazine scans, interviews, etc. I'll start it off:
