The third album was called
New! Improved! and it's watered-down folk-rock on one side, but the other side is a burly menace thanks to Randy Holden
urging the band to return to the formula of
Vincebus Eruptum and take it to new heights/depths.
Randy was a member only during this particular album, and after he parted, he went onto recorded a legendary album--
Population II--which languished in obscurity for decades before being bootlegged and subsequently reissued with bonus tracks, and now it is treasured by many a fan of hard psych and early metal as a landmark album.
Locally, we have heard nothing about Leigh being back in the band...and we have our doubts based on the grudge he had.
