I always thought that was Pavement's secret weapon. The whole stupid slacker oh-look-we-can-barely-play thing was a joke. They were (are) really really talented and TIGHT as a band. Even watching like the live shit on Slow Century -- it's like holy shit! They are ridiculously on point. And I mean sometimes you gotta pay attention to some of their really weird changes and shit. TERROR TWILIGHT is so shaton, but if you listen to like a lot of the weird stop-starting and (ahem) "jamming" on something like "You Are A Light" it's really a reminder that these muhfuggas could PLAY!
