This conviction rendered him subject to a 2017 Rhode Island law requiring mandatory surrender of firearms possessed by those so convicted. Preceding that law is the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968 (passed in the wake of the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy), which outlaws the possession of firearms by those convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence offenses.

In other words, the old adage: "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." is quite clearly borne out by this tragic incident.

Second Amendment Derangement Syndrome

No guns where I live. Guess what? No shootings! Funny that. And NOBODY wants this to change. The outlaws with guns pretty much don't exist. It's great !

Going out in public, sending kids to school without worrying about some nutter going mental with such a dangerous weapon is so good. Honestly Robert, NOT having a Second Amendment is just fantastic. But to each their own

I'm glad there are some laws in America, as you mention above. They're clearly not working well, giving how easily accessible weapons seem to be. When the almost weekly news of a big US shooting comes through, there's the same collective "Ah, America" feeling here. Good luck fixing your problem, anyway.
