I think if you want to know why America is so fucked up you just need to look at the issue of gun ownership. The whole "guns don't kill, people do" bollocks.
The argument that there wouldn't be less people killed if gun ownership were restricted, and just the basic mis-reading of the American constitution, which at no point says that people have a right to own guns:
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
Where to start with that badly constructed, extremely ambiguous sentence.
