I just wanted to highlight this bit. People will very often mention the Jewish influence on America - which is not insignificant - but there are plenty of hatstand Christians doing the rounds that actually believe that they can force the second-coming by control of the Holy Land. And the madder sorts of Christianity seem to be a very major force in the States.
