the internet and tv are both powered by electricity, which is generated by burning fossil fuels. yes, the internet is actually a coal powered difference engine... newsprint, on the other hand, is made from a combination of recycled paper and renewable lumber.
if you dig the environment, you should support your local newspaper by subscribing to the 'dead trees' edition. have it delivered to your house... it is no less convenient to read and more portable than a laptop.
