while there could be some competitive princing and offers, there is no incentive whatsoever for them to offer insurance to people who are already sick. that has to be mandated and i'm glad it will be done.
the insurance company is just a fucking middleman. they don't provide healthcare. they just take your money, skim off the top, and then make it a bitch to pay doctors. doctors need to have extra people on the staff just to deal with the fucking insurance claims, or they would never get paid. it's a fucking ugly racket and i'd be happy to be rid of it.
i much rather trust the government to provide a service (like the fire department and the cops and the roads) and then if you want extra perks you can buy your own (like people have private security, helicopters, etc). but again, "we don't trust the government", cuz of some obscure fucking superstition, but we trust the big fucking corporations, right?
i'm for the free market for most things but some things need to be collective or they won't work-- roads is one, army is another, and health care too. in the meantime, i'll take whatever i can get, even if i disagree with having to give my money to some corporate vulture.
