I agree and disagree. I could definitely do without the gloss, but I prefer it to the newspaper pulp that they used to use. the colors faded, and the books themselves deteriorated. I agree that the colors take away from the drawings, most definitely. In a perfect world, comics would place more importance on pen and ink rather than color.
