In my opinion the quicker you die, the more painful it is, but it's only for a shorter time. Inversely, the slower you die, the less painful it is, but it is painful for a longer period of time before death.
Also after you die, body rots in ground. Your mind just shuts off, as if you were never alive in the first place.
