BCDGHIPRSVRacism may have been the norm of the 18th/19th century, but lets not all be so naive to assume that everybody in Europe was a racist, because that is simply not true, there were many many people who were NOT racist, and supported movements against slavery, bigotry and social racism..
so lets not exonerate Darwin because of the context of his era, because that is simply a cop-out for his misguided personal beliefs. Racism is universal crime, and it remains so across history. There were people who lived and were even martyred for the cause of equality and social justice, and this idea that all Europeans were universally racist is a mockery of their struggle..
