so i've uploaded a few demos of stuff that's going to be on the new JoCo cd and i could really use some opinions. keep in mind there demos, not finished versions. it sounds a bit different than teh last cd, i imagine because i got an old 70's hammond organ (from craigslist for $25! try and not be jealous ). i also decided to use ALOT more vocal samples for this cd, mainly because i've got a better grasp on how to do it now, and a crap load of comedy records laying aorund. here's a little back story:

1. Higher Than Top Secret-this is going to be the opener/intro for the cd, that's why it's so short. i'm thinking about adding vocal samples all teh way through it though. anyways, i think it's a good opener, i'm sure you'll see why.

2. Magic Bullet Theory-this ones been up for a while and i'm still waiting for the bass guitar for it. it's kinda trip hoppy/shoe gazey. i got the song title while watching JFK, so when the song was done i sampled the scene feom teh movie where kevin costners character explains the "magic bullet theory" and tossed it in. me and the other people involved think it's one of the better songs so far. we hope you do too.

3. Learned How To Booze-this song was extra fun making, mainly because the whole song is just me. the drums came form my new organs built in drum machines. then i added a crap load of other organ and some fuzz guitar. even added soem accordion type harmonica (at least i think it sounds like accordion). the vocal sample is from an old female comedian named rusty warren. she likes to booze, i like to booze. it was a match made in heaven. the one thing i'm worried about in this one is the glockenspiel/xlophone parts. they just don't sound right to me, lemme know what you think. i'm also probably going to add lite organic electronics to this so try and keep that in mind as well.

4. If You Were Drowning We'd Throw You A Cinder Block-this was a left over form the last cd called phase noise. but it just didn't feel complete to me. so i added soem bass and other ambient stuff to it.

5. Off The Cuff-this one is extra different, in teh sense that it was recorded live (that's why the drums are a little too loud). me and some other folks in the band got crunk and decided to have an improve jam. i think it turned out pretty damned good. that's why it's called off the cuff, cause it was a "jam", recorded live in the living room (i added chimes to it afterward). but i'm thinking of changing the name of it. so it's either gonna be off the cuff, fleshy part of the thigh, the creature or we've located yr family but they won't survive the night. you decide.

so that's it. any feedback is much appreciated. here or on the myspace. here's the link, just in case you have sig's turned off: www.myspace.com/oldjoco
thank you in advance.

ps-i'm gonna bump the shit outta this thread till i get some responses.
