Thurston Moore may be best known for bringing the noise with legendary alt-rockers Sonic Youth, but his musical output is far from confined to his work with that band. The Northampton, Mass., resident has become equally well known for his frequent collaborations with everyone from Andrew W.K. to Dave Grohl.
Moore—who was raised in Bethel, Conn.—is on the short list of candidates for the proposed Connecticut Music Hall of Fame. This Sunday he returns to the state for an under-the-radar performance in the intimate confines of
BAR with his Northampton Wools side project, creating all sorts of beautiful, unruly noise alongside fellow Pioneer Valley experimental guitarist Bill Nace.
Rounding out the bill in the latest of Shaki Presents' stellar series of free Sunday night shows are Noise Nomads and Crooked Hook.
You can also catch Thurston Moore recreating his debut solo release, "Psychic Hearts," on Sept. 17 at Pearl Street.
