i wouldnt smoke when my 2 kids are around, i wait til they are gone to bed and then have a couple.. not wasted because you have responsibilities and i can handle bioth my life and my activities and still carry out my responsiblities like an adult with a steady job and a house to look after...... so why then should i be hated... its a pretty broad brush you are tarring people with... i reckon the parents who go to the pub after work, drink a skinful and then come home pissed and take it out on the liitle ones and beat the wife are the ones you should be directing your hate to....
and also why 13 years old... surely the kids are morre influenced by their parents at that age when it comes to behaivoural things and habitual things.... monkey see monkey do as they say but at 13 they have the capability of thinking for themselves and making constructive desicions regarding their environment and behaiviour moreso than a child of 2 or 3 or 4.
