its not war, after all,
"we don't neeeeeeeeeed, no more trouble, what we need is love, to guide and protect us all!"
the point was that there are more appropriate reactions then apathy.
George Washington supposedly led america againt the tyranny of british rule in the americas, made a move and took one back.
Emperor Haile Selassie, though pursuing peace diligently, defended himself and his country, even manning the guns himself against the Italian invasion.
The EZLN is making moves against a corrupt system devolved from the slavocracy of the Vera Cruz region.
It is not the violence is the answer, it is that these men were dedicated enough to the truth and to their cause in order to if necessary, give theirs lives and take the lives of others who threaten the truth. In America, we let Americans run around the world with guns killing folks, and our American money is spent on the same cause, and yet, all we apathetic americans do is ignore it, and moderately complain at best.
the truth, is not that pissed off Americans should start offing their landlord of the pig on the beat, but rather, that if they were even half down enough to, perhaps the positive and non-violent moves would be that much more effective, as the Vietmihn land reform policies were in the 1940s and bringing about change in the face of the worst, as are the EZLN schools today. It is their dedication, not the use of force itself, which must be admired and taken to heart.
