don't listen to journalists ever. everything they write is just a rehashing of about 40 terms (words like "seminal") rearranged depending on the subject, but however they write it it's all a load of fucking shit.
i personally don't care to hear what some hack at a cubicle in the rolling stone offices has to say about the sex pistols or whoever. i don't care who supposedly influenced them or any other fucking band. all i care is if it sounds good and sod the rest.
