I had a tape player in year 7 (6th Grade) then portable CD players came in and i got one of those, the only problem was that if they weren't completely flat then they wouldn't play! and they would skip ALL THE TIME
really, cassette tape players are great and retro and kool, but i would choose my ipod over one any day of the week.
