My brother taught English in Namibia for two years with the Peace Corp.
One of the surprising things he said he noticed was how happy his African students were even though he figured how shitty they would think their lives are compared to his. Sure it was no famine situation, but people do adapt to a thrid world life and find happiness. The soccer ball/football is the most beautiful invention ever.
