Why are clones human? I'm talking the legal definition. And who is responsible for a clone? Can you just make a clone then dump the infant on the sidewalk? You're not the parent, so why are you be legally responsible? You seem to assume its all set up but there is no precedent to cloning.

Your comment about speedy growth sounds like the people 100 years ago who said human kind would never fly, or 600 years ago when people scoffed at claims the world was round...or in the 1800's when doctors laughed when people claimed that if they just washed their hands, they'd stop disease. Oh wait I forget, only God causes disease. For cloned organ replacement to work you'll have to have speedy growth - and perhaps it will only be portions of the body, there will just be racks of thoraxes where specific genetically reciped organs are quickly grown...for clone organ replacement to be practical you'll either have to have a clone waiting for your use for 15 years or use the speedy growth technology. The US is going to purposefully fall way behind in the technology while Asia will have no qualms about experimenting. And if its banned there (doubtful, I don't think there's anything China will say no to) a million dollars will buy you a nice residency in certain African corruptocracies (see Bush touring Africa to get some tips).

BUt once clones are developed, expect major worldwide population reduction. The elites won't need a breeding working class anymore, they can decant their own slave pool of workers.

I guess my predictions come down to whether or not clones have humans rights and I assert they don't no more than AIs do.
