yeah GUIs are not the issue these days, it's the installing of programs and the availability of software that concerns me. i dont know for example of any unix app that will match dreamweaver for website management-- i hand code everything, but the DW templates & link updates & file management really make my life easier.

now AVID will run on pc or mac (and it's picky about hardware); not on linux. there may be other editors in the future (edius i think worx with linux?) but intallation, support, etc. are a pain.

i remember trying to set up a BT server in redhat 9. jeezus what a fucking nightmare. i gave up fast.

so that' why i have hope in OSX -- it's UNIX, it's user friendly, it's well supported, it has commercial apps. we just gotta free it from its artificial hardware handicaps.
