I have never met MES or TM, but it is a long enough time since i've followed their bands, and for sure you can really know a person from the lyrics and interviews. You can NOT fake what you are for 25 years, everyday. If you can't figure an artist by its work, and if you can not identify with the work, this means you belong somewhere else (generally speaking).
As for the racist, homophobic bands i have to disagree too. It's like listening to Gangsta Rap when you have nothing in common with that ideology, lifestyle, etc. Just because you like the beats, or something like that... In my opinion this is why the current status of good music (i hate the term) is so low in mainstream. People are so easy to be entertained, and there is no interest in finding and discovering the artists. Like Jello Biafara said "Those dumb punk kids will buy anything"
