yeah you're right. they did make a pact at the beginning ('33/'34) though with the pope in which the pope agreed to support nazism (anything but the commies) if hitler let the catholics keep their school and youth organisations.
i think hitler himself was an occultist, or something strange like that - he said "god in nature and the german people".
