Ok, nobody has mentioned Hawkwind yet, another band that is not stoner rock as such, but it surely pushes its way into this thread, at least for being a favourite with many a stoner rocker. I was thinking about them when Loop were brought up. Maybe it's because they're now so associated with that awful crusty rave/rock festival thing from the early 90s, whatever it is, too many people forget what a terrific band they once were - and how many (usually not so terrific) bands they influenced.
What's interesting about them is that, as dated as they may now sound, they were genuinely looking towards the future, whereas so much of the Stoner rubbish of today has set it's controls firmly to the heart of the past. Talk about missing the point.
