Well the constant hyper-analizing of a band has the worst effect on the way you end up perceiving/listening to them, doesn't it?
The music still remains good/bad with all its potential or lack thereof, but the person who so wants to keep relating to it will find it more and more difficult to do so, eventually. That is when it's time to cut down on the gibberish, stop playing the band's records and go back to it with a fresher approach at a later stage.
