You don't have to be an audiophile (I'm not) to know you should do this regularly if you want to keep your LPs in good shape. But when do you do it? I replaced mine yesterday simply because it's been two years since I last did, and I'm paranoid as hell about wear and tear on my LPs. I wasn't noticing anything wrong sounding about LP playback. The old stylus cantilever is a bit grody looking though. I have the Grado Blue cartridge, which I highly recommend, by the way. It's not that expensive (under 80 bucks) but man it makes your turntable sound good.
