As someone who makes no bones about prefering the pre-Geffen era Sonic Youth, I can honestly say that this has nothing to do with any desire to look 'cool'. I just think that their best work was done during that period. I own most of the band's official releases and like some of the later stuff a lot. It's just that these days, my need to keep up with what they do is more born out of habit and curiosity than any real sense of excitement. Like asking after old acquaintences you've long since lost real contact with.

Thank God for the Non-Sonic Sounds section. That's what I say!
