contre-- yes it sounds like your mic connector there became loose-- the jack as opposed to the cable itself. i've had that happen with headphones, people pull them from the cable carelessly and kaput, your $100 monitor headphones are useless.

first i thought it was my camera and i was gonna cry like a baby, then i tested other headphones & realized it was the headphones. so yes, process of elimination works here to identify the culprit.

if it's the mic jack (the little hole), this should be a minor repair, but you'd have to open the case to verify/replace. not sure if you have a warranty? you should be covered.

for further info try contacting terminal pharmacy here-- he really knows audio.
