Besides, bissen sort of means "snack" or "eat." He wasn't asking if you spoke German. He was asking if you ate either German cuisine or Germans. Not sure which, unless you gave me more context.

Oops it is wir sind, Sie sind, not wir bissen sie bissen. I was just misconjugating, silly me- I really need to polish up on my German. I don't think he said that, I just remember he asked me if I was German in a formal matter. He might have even asked me in english.
