It's pretty unfortunate that this is the only phrase in spanish i'm always confident in saying. I tried to speaking spanish to this man at some family party. He was from argentina and basically spoke no english. Instead of saying goodnight to him, I said merry christmas. Feliz navidad and buenas noches...nothing alike. Of course, I had had around 3 glasses of wine and a strawberry daquiri on a pretty empty stomach.
