People in my high school class were not friends with me either. My senior year, they voted for me for some superlatives which turned out to be a surprise though. All of my friends were in the class one year my junior. This one guy in my class was my good friend though. He moved to the school around the same time I did and was also in "accelerated" classes and the "gifted program" in his former school system.
It pangs me to write about him. He was the tallest guy in our school also. He died the summer after tenth grade. He was drunk in a swimming pool. It was my first experience with the death of a friend. On the day of his funeral, I totaled my VW Rabbit on the way home because I couldn't pay attention to driving from being so distraught.
