i hate that one. if any domestic violence is going down in my house i'm the one doing the beating. that stereotype says something about women too; namely that they're delicate (therefore they wouldn't be the ones throwing down), need to be put in their place by a man.
domestic violence instigated by men is recognized as something really deplorable because of the notion that has been drilled into the brains of every male forever and ever: never hit a girl (presumably because you're supposed to treat her like a lady and not an equal, and that women/girls/whatever are incapable of defending themselves.)
