I have been remarkably lucky, especially considering I only have 1 brake that performs at about 75% of what it needs to. I almost got doored yesterday, but managed to swerve. I had about 4 near-misses this year, and only 1 wipeout. One of the reasons I never became a bike messenger was the fact that I never knew a single one who hadn't been hit by a car on more than one occasion.
