I will certainly agree that the atmosphere and the rivalries and such at college games are a lot of fun.
what I do not like is the level of play. I watch the NFL because every player is an all-american. In college you are lucky if each team ahs 2-4 all-american caliber players. In the NFL, the players must make another step up in dedication and practice and even skill because everyone they face, even the second stringers, are on par with the very best they faced in college.
I also prefer defense, being an old defensive tackle myself, and the college game has super sloppy defense. scores of 45-40 are common, and insane blowouts of 60-7 are an every week occurrence.
the parity in the NFL is much better. even the worst NFL team can give the best teams headaches.
I also hate the rel;atively new bowl setup in the NCAA. each conference used to have a bowl game. Now there are like 40 of them and half of them are set up with teams that have barely a winning record. several bowl games last year featured teams with records of 7-5 going against a 7-5 team. that is just mopney grubbing pure and simple, something the college afficionados like to tag the pro league with.
Vince Young's FAMILY got $500,000 when vince young decided to play for UT. schools give players and playe rfamilies houses, cars, and mopney and whores and tutors and special classes where they do not have to even show up. it is MORE crooked tha the pro game. the pro game is played for a salary. the college game is supposedly played for an education, or "the ove of football" .At least the prios are honest about it.
