How sad. I wonder if the album he was working on for release this year is far enough long that it can be released.

In one of the online news stories announcing his death and discussing his life and career, he was quoted as saying a lot of people thought "kick out the jams" meant push against society's restrictions but that the band meant it as a slam against bands that constantly jammed. They really did prefigure punk.
