but there's a poll coming up november 2022. democrats will either consolidate gains or lose it all.
your assumption is that they'll lose congress in 2 years and must do all they can right now. i understand, that's possible. but i think if they push for too much the loss is
guaranteed.
otoh my take is that consolidation of a majority is possible and should be attempted. and it can be attempted via areas where there is common ground in the public.
and while matching capital gains tax to income bracket instead of giving it special treatment, or at least limiting the level at which it gets special treatment, is sure to be rejected by republicans, it should not stoke great popular discontent.
a presidency is nearly worthless without congress, as the merrick garland sabotage proved. i think democrats should focus on growing their majorities for years to come rather than try to squeeze quick victories between republican administrations.
