I find this one to be massively overrated. Atmospherically it seems like it might go somewhere every now and then, but it's bogged down by the terribly one note vocal delivery. There also isn't much in the way of cohesion, it all works - but there's never a point that really clicked with me. All of the tracks just kind of drift along on their own. Their reverence of SWANS is quite evident on "Satan In The Wait" and "The Reason They Hate Me", which is much appreciated, because they at least seem offer some interesting melodical stylings for a change. Yeah. It’s fine, but is it great? I don’t think so. There’s nothing new here. It’s well done and everything, but Jesus... the hype is ridiculous.
Just shows you how starved the world is for quality higher-profile noise rock. Be the only game in town and you’ll end up on year-end lists.
