the passion of joan of arc (carl theodor dreyer, 1928)

i had never seen this before. it is a little boring, sure, but it’s so beautifully shot, and a year before potemkin actually, and it’s in many ways better (that photography, and the minimalism of the whole thing—heads, heads,heads... brilliant)

the fourth installment of the adventures of antoine doinel finds him in the early years of his marriage. very funny!
