not sure what is true about what but i've seen very old italian dudes shed tears for "il duce" and claim how everything was great back then.

my point is not this or that however-- it's that demagogues will utilize legitimate discourse and causes for their own twisted ends.

e.g. was germany suffering from an overly draconian versailles treaty that made the weimar republic, and democracy itself, unstable? of course. but then--hey, let's blame the jews for it and burn them. oh, and hitler had some very fantastic environmental laws as well! those nature sanctuaries make it alright i guess. and what about rockets? and jet engines? fantastic! etc etc.

so-- sure trump has some nice phrases and criticisms to randomly throw out there and lure the unwary, but fuck his lunacy and false promises. snake oil salesman.
