This is my general gripe with rappers these days, they say something in a loose slack jawed or gruff way (probably about their possessions, be that cars/money/women/drugs/clothes*), they repeat it, they repeat it again, they repeat it again, they leave a gap, they repeat half of it and then sing the end bit, they say about three words that don't rhyme and don't scan, they leave a gap, they say the first thing again...etc. Over a beat with a skittery/ticky drum pattern that sounds a bit like somebody winding up an egg timer.

This is why Drake is pop music for me. I love some of his songs and listen to them regularly because I like some pop songs. They are not hip hop songs though.
