The whole-grains no. They are balanced with fats and proteins. Bleached flour? Yes. It is essentially pure refined sugar. Fruits are sweet, but the sugars are simple enough so as not to cause those peaks in blood sugar levels. Whole grains=good. Overly refined grains=sugar.
Sugar=dangerous,
may even turn out to be the leading cause of death in the developed world.. (not to mention that the sugar plantations of the 13th century are also the origins of chattel slavery)
Also note: Salt is equally insidious.
